Project Overview

Glyn Taff Solar Farm to the east of Pontypridd, will provide 39.9 Megawatt peak (MWp) of clean, zero-carbon, renewable energy, equivalent to providing enough power to meet the annual electricity needs of approximately 12,000 homes.

The operational life of the development would be 35 years, providing approximately 18,000 tonnes of carbon emissions savings and significant improvement to biodiversity in the locality.

The application has now been registered by PEDW. You can view it here using reference CAS-03147-D7S9P8.

Gyn Taff Solar Farm would be located approximately 2 km to the east of Pontypridd Town centre.

The scheme extends to approximately 71 hectares of grade 4 agricultural land on the southern slopes of Eglwysilan Common, to the southeast of Pontypridd Golf Club.

The proposed site is situated within the wards of Rhydfelin Central, Trallwng and Treforest, in Rhondda Cynon Taf.
