This wind farm has an installed capacity of 138 MW and is equipped with 69 turbines. It is located toward the north-east of the island of Sardinia in the province of Sassari, on a plateau between 2,300 and 3,300 feet above sea level. The excellent wind characteristics, the favorable conditions for connection to the electricity grid, the modest environmental impact and the positive effect on local communities make Buddusò and Alà dei Sardi one of the most appealing areas in Italy for building a wind farm. This farm can generate around 330 GWh of electricity per year, positioning it as Italy’s largest wind farm and one of the biggest in Europe.

The project combines agricultural production and renewable energy, with the planting of an ‘agro-forestry-pastoral’ cultivation system identified in collaboration with expert agronomists.
In this way, the plants are sustainable from an agricultural and environmental point of view, and able to combine the needs for the development of renewable energies and the usual agricultural practice.

The altitude of the site varies between 900 m and 1,200 m. The total power of the wind farm is 79.5 MW, divided between the two ridges that make up the mountain range: the southern ridge, on which 28 turbines have been installed for a total of 42 MW (this section is in commercial operation), and the northern ridge, on which 15 turbines have been installed for a total of 37.5 MW. Energy production equal to the needs of: 60,000 households. Quantity of CO2 saved: 64,000 tonnes of CO2.

Valle di Zasa photovoltaic plant in the province of Palermo has a total rated power of about 29.87 MW divided into five macro areas. The largest portion of the plant – 4 out of 5 areas – is located in the territory of the municipality of Campofelice di Fitalia; one area in the territory of the municipality of Mezzojuso; while in the territory of the municipality of Ciminna, the storage system and infrastructure for connecting the plant to TERNA SpA’s grid will be built.
